Upon referral, the individual is assessed to determine the primary areas of need. If psychiatric care is indicated, an initial evaluation is scheduled with the psychiatrist and appropriate team members. Follow-up appointments are scheduled according to individual need and medication stability. If behavioral intervention is indicated, a formal functional analysis of the behavior is completed in the consumer’s natural environment, and behavioral recommendations are made. Behavior Specialists and field clinicians carry out the intervention or training in the home, work, or school setting.
